This year we reluctantly decided that we wouldn't be having a summer holiday abroad but instead we would stay here in this lovely country of ours and make the most of what it has to offer (save money).
Oh man were we praying for some good weather so we didn't regret not going for the all-inclusive-swimming-pool-week-in-the sun-cocktails-all-day kind of holiday. We've just had our first week off for the year and it's safe to say we had some bloody good weather (and some rain for the first half but we don't need to mention that so much...)
We took ourselves off to a little village in Cambridgeshire called Linton for a couple of nights where we walked down country lanes, ate loads of food and generally had a jolly good time. I won't link to the place where we stayed which we found on Airbnb because it actually had a load of damp in the cottage and we weren't overly impressed but it was really nice to get away for a short time (and Linton has a flipping good Indian restaurant which was well worth the trip). We also managed to look around Cambridge for the day which we loved and if I'm honest, I can't remember the last time I saw so much greenery. England is really look it's best at the minute, a mix of a few days heavy rain and sunshine works wonders.

  2. Love Cambridge! Did you do some punting? We'll be doing the same this year and having a "staycation". My parents live in Norfolk so we're staying with them for a week next month and doing lots of day trips. Really hoping we have a good weather week so we can sit outside lots and maybe get a boat on the Broads. If the weather is good in the UK it can be just as good as going abroad. :D. Glad you had a great time!

    1. We didn't go punting this time, we did go last summer though and loved it. We walked up the river instead this time which was really nice. Sounds like your trip to Norfolk will be good, I hope you get some nice weather! I've never been to Norfolk but it's on the list, maybe later on this year for our second 'staycation'! x

  6. ah, it looks and sounds lovely! Great pictures, especially that abandoned swimming pool one. I think more UK holidays are on the cards for us too. When the weather's half decent this country really is very beautiful x
