We certainly had a taste of The Good Life this weekend with a visit to Dorset to see an old school friend of Steven's and his wife and two kids. They live on a dairy farm that holds about 800 cows and is surrounded by field after field of crops and grass, woodland and a nice little veg patch that has everything you could need to whip up a last minute meal - with pudding!
Every time we go away for a couple of days in England we always seem to get the muggiest, most uncomfortable weather but absolutely no sun, I don't know what gives!
It's the first time I've ever been around a dairy farm and I loved seeing all the different cows in the different stages of the process. Just seeing how a farm works that's not open to the public is fascinating in itself, I knew it required hard work but I really had no idea.

On Sunday we went for a long walk around the fields taking in the sights, meeting some cows along the way who were grazing in the fields and giving our lungs some much, much needed fresh air. We then headed back for a quick lunch with salad picked from the garden before the drive home.
London, please be kind to me this week.

Hope you had a good weekend too!

  2. Amazing that you have friends who live on a dairy farm! What a great way to spend the weekend, nothing like being outdoors -even if it is muggy weather! The cows are so cute, especially the baby ones! I love the photo of the lavender as well - beautiful as always my dear! x

  3. I was sitting at home with my friend Kim this weekend and she was like "Jo's photos make me want to move to Dorset!" It took me by surprise because I couldn't figure out how she knew you, but then I realised she reads your blog and knows I know you because there are blog posts out there of us hanging out. It was a very surreal moment.

  5. Such lovely photos! I really don't think the overcast skies detract from the pictures at all. The little calf curled up in the box is so adorable. x
