VIDEO: CARAVANNING IN WALES

Wahooooo! I finally got round to editing our British Summer Holiday video. I still haven't really got the hang of using my camera for video yet but I do love making them and I watch them back more then I thought I would so I think it's worth it. I spent ages trying to pick a song and none of them felt right but I think The Strokes go pretty nicely.
Oh, the game we're playing at the end (which looks a little rude for a moment, ahem) is how fast you can wrap the string - with a ball attached to the end, around a piece of wood. It is way more addictive then you think it will be.

Ohhh summer holidays, see you next year.

BANK HOLIDAY

Shoreditch

I second shot my second wedding of the year on Saturday, there was pie and peas, a village hall and a skiffle band with four old dudes who were brilliant - and also a very very happy couple, who were so very much in love. The vicar did a really beautiful service too and even though I am not very religious at all he spoke some very wise words about the future as a husband and wife. I haven't really started on the edit of pics yet, it's a very daunting and mammoth task that I couldn't face on a dreary bank holiday monday but I am very much looking forward to sharing them, hopefully soon! I have 3 more coming up - one each week for the next 3 weeks, YIKES! So I best get on with it really.

Shoreditch

Anyway, no pictures of weddings here today, we went around Shoreditch on Sunday for a mooch and a wander to see what we could find. It feels like ages since we last went around that area, I was surprised about the influx of sausage dogs in the area, I think they're taking over!

We had a look around the markets...

Steven's got his eyes peeled for some particular records but we had no luck here.

Pizza Union

We then went for pizza, what a surprise! We went to Pizza Union which is very cheap and cheerful. Probably not the most amazing pizza in the world but we had a drink, olives and a pizza each and cost about eleven quid, not bad at all.

Just look at that look of love.

London

We hopped on a bus...

...But then hopped off the bus because of road diversions and traffic jams and got to see some sights I regularly take for granted. Tut tut.

We ended up at the Southbank to meet a couple of friends for a brief drink before we looked around the Museum of Broken Relationships.

I loved the Dear Cathy and Claire (of Jackie Magazine) section at the back and had major typewriter/furniture envy.

The Department of Good Cheer bar is very stylish too, with most things made out of cardboard - including the tables!

Oh, I forgot to show these. I bought some Martin Parr postcards and this new Oyster card holder for very cheap from a shop in Box Park earlier in the day.
We didn't do very much yesterday except do a huge tidy and sort out of the flat, living in a tiny one bed flat with no storage starts to take its toll sometimes but then we chuck a load of stuff out and start again!

Hope you had a good long weekend too!

TWO DAYS HOLIDAY

Holiday at home
Holiday at home
After we got back from caravanning with the family in North Wales, we both had 2 days off before we needed to get back to work. Two whole days of doing whatever we wanted...so what did we do? Went to Franco Manca of course! I really should get some kind of payment (in pizza) for how much I mention them on here. A couple of friends from Leeds were already in London so we met up for a quick lunch before they needed to catch their train and it was soooo good! I need to order the buffalo mozzarella next time as I had major food envy.

Steven and I then went for a slice of cake at Attendant just around the corner, it's a former toilet with the original features still in tact, super friendly barista's and serving some really good carrot cake.

The next day I spent pottering about the house, editing our holiday video and trying out my new lens. I finally got around to getting the 50mm 1.4 which I can't wait to use at the wedding I'm second shooting for tomorrow. We had a tasty breakfast, a filling lunch and some lovely cake from m&s to top it off. Believe me, it was hard adjusting to being back at work yesterday!

CARAVANNING, NORTH WALES

Caravanning, North Wales
We've just got back from a long weekend of caravanning with my family in North Wales (we stay in an inner tent in the awning), we seem to be making this a yearly tradition now with the first year in Cornwall, last year in Cambridge and this year just near Wrexham. We fitted in so much in 4 days and I love getting to explore other areas of Britain that I haven't been able to see before - or at least since I was a little 'un myself.
As I did last year, I decided to make a little video of our time away so as I'm still editing that I thought I'd share a few pictures I managed to take in between recording.

The pictures above are from Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which has just the most amazing and ridiculous views. If you have a quick google image search of it you can really get the full view (my lens wasn't wide enough!) and see how crazy it is to actually be able to walk over it. There were some lovely houses on the other side and beautiful canal boats with flowers on top which I totally fell in love with. We also bumped into the friendliest little dog who lived in its own miniature canal boat called 'The Dog House'!

We went to Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall which is the highest waterfall in Wales, we got there quite late as the weather was turning for the evening so we only stayed for a quick visit but the drive up to the car park itself is one hell of a journey. It certainly kept us on our toes that's for sure.

We visited Liverpool and had a good walk around with a visit to the Cavern Club in the evening and we made it to Chester for a couple of hours too for a walk along the city walls and some cake.  We also managed to fit in a very brief visit to Anglesey - which was a bit windy! But had some pretty good chips and peas.

For the whole time we were there and since we've been back all I've been talking about is camping and it's got me so desperate to buy a tent, I just love camping and everything that goes with it - even the creepy crawlies I can put up with! I've been saying for the past couple of years that I'd like to start camping again but for one reason or another we just haven't got round to getting a tent (mainly due to cost and finding somewhere to store it in a pokey one bed flat) and then summer comes and goes in a blink of an eye and then it's too late. I just want to feel like I've made the most of the summer by getting out there and we're only an hours drive away from Kent so we have no excuse really. I think it's about time we got looking for one!
