LAST DAY OF 2014

Last day of 2014

After spending the majority of Christmas time gadding about the north of England visiting family we've had a few days holiday left to spend at home to sort ourselves out, catch up on sleep and eat all the Christmas chocs before heading back to work tomorrow. Balls.
So we finally got ourselves showered and dressed on new years eve, started the day with tea and toast and took ourselves into London to do a spot of shopping.

New jumpers and coats were found and I came across this lovely little shop called We Built This City on Carnaby St stocked with London souvenirs but full of things you'd actually want and made by independent artists. Lots of lovely things in there but not sure how long it will be around as I think its a pop-up shop.

After going back and forth between restaurants and deciding 10 minutes was too long to wait for a seat for a burger, then told it would be a 15 minute wait for pizza somewhere else (I'd just encountered the sales in Topshop) our hopes of a nice new years eve lunch were slipping away but we came across this little diner called GrillShack just off Carnaby Street and it actually had a tiny little vegetarian menu for Steven and all the fried food and chips for me.

I got the buttermilk turkey burger with sweet potato fries - a christmas special with £1 going to charity and Steven went for the halloumi burger - and it was really good, I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area. Also, you get fries included in the price of the burger which is a big win for me!

Happy full belly face.

And then we headed back home, popped the fizz and had a night in front of the tv watching Queen and trying desperately to see the fireworks from our living room window (we settled for a glow of colour...). Not a bad way to ring in the new year though. Back to work tomorrow so lots of sulking to be had today.

  1. Sounds like a perfect way to spend the last day of the year! That shop and the burger both look great! I love Carnaby St - there are so many fun places in that area. Happy New Year!
