TWENTY SEVEN

Looe Bay, Cornwall, June 2015

Today I turn twenty seven. I included the pic above in the Cornwall post last week but its the most recent picture I have of myself  - without me taking one whilst I'm sat in bed writing this, top knot and everything, yikes.
A friend of mine has her birthday in September so I feel like I get a good nine months to get used to the new number. Twenty eight, however, freaks me the f out.
I think birthdays are always a reflective time for everyone, the pressure and the panic of figuring out if you're where you want to be in life - and then naturally having the massive urge to quit your job and go backpacking for a year because all you've done is work and work and work. Over the past couple of weeks I've been thinking about if I am where I want to be in life and...I think I'm on the right path... maybe? At least I think I'm vaguely going in the right direction but I'm not really sure if I'm honest. I don't know what path I'm suppose to be on but I guess when I look back in another years time I might know if I was. I'm sure it will all make sense and work itself out at some point.

Twenty six was a busy year for me, it feels like it was the quickest year yet (I just read the post from last birthday and holy moly, only a year ago!?). But I like being busy and I hope 27 is a busy year too - but with less stress. Much less stress. I've got a fair few grey hairs to show for this past year. I'm currently concocting a list of things I'd like to do this year and even though most of them include restaurants I'd like to visit, there's a few useful things on there too that I would like to get cracking with. People keep telling me that 27 is a good year, so they better be right!

So, for this next year I guess the plan is to carry on doing what I'm doing - whilst learning more, go to more restaurants...and buy some hair dye.

CAMPING IN DORSET

After spending 4 glorious nights in Cornwall where the weather was comparable to a beautiful mediterranean country, we packed the car up and pitched the tent in Dorset for two nights.  If we ever wanted a test to see if we liked camping even in the rain then these two days were it!

We had storms both nights - thunder and lightning included which was preeeetty scary when camped under a tree. But the days were fairly rain-less and quite humid so we stuck it out and actually didn't mind the bad weather so much.

We took a trip to West Bay (home of where Broadchurch is filmed!) one afternoon and did the mammoth walk along the beach and back again. It was definitely a big contrast to the lucky weather we had in Cornwall but it was nice being in the tent and also have the chance to finish my book.

Hopefully we'll able to fit in a couple more camping trips before the summer is over. If you have any camp site recommendations then please send them this way.
I also uploaded the video I made of our Cornwall trip. If you'd like to take a look, here is the link. I should warn you though, it features lots of sunshine!

LOOE, CORNWALL

Looe Bay, Cornwall, June 2015

We've just got back from a week of being on holiday, thats right, one whole week off work! The last time I had any time off was at Christmas so to say we were ready for a break is a huge understatement.

A while ago we booked in for 4 nights at a camp site in Cornwall that has these little camping snugs doted around, you basically take everything you need for camping but the tent, genius! This was before Steven's sister lent us the tent we took with us to the New Forest so after we got that we tagged on two nights in Dorset to make the most of the full week off. But first, our Cornwall trip...

Obviously I got ill just before we left, I can't remember the last time I had a cold but my body must have let its guard down as I was beginning to wind down and then BAM! full on head cold with dizziness and just generally feeling like crap for about 3 days. But, it didn't scupper anything for us, aha you pesky cold! (and that's why there's only one picture of me!)

We both agreed that this was our best holiday yet (sorry, that sounds incredibly smug but it really was!)  the weather was just unbelievable and the camping snug was brilliant. It blocked out all the noise and light from outside so we had plenty of sleep and no rude awakenings from the birds in the morning - and also somewhere warm to sit as it turned chilly in the evening (and no spiders/insects in them either - which means Sarah and Nick, we're all going next year!)

The campsite is right on the coast of Looe, there's a walk down to Looe Bay which is pretty hilly (not the best when full of cold!) and takes roughly 45 minutes - but there is icecream and cornish pasties when you get there so it isn't all bad! Looe Bay is a lovely little area, a traditional seaside town with quaint shops and cafes and a sandy beach. We came across an almost secluded beach on our walk down where we stopped off for some cake and a paddle in the sea.

The view from the campsite though was the absolute highlight, I mean...just look...

The campsite is run by a lovely couple called Liz and Mike who in their words are 'living the dream', they have the most beautiful dog called Skye who I fell in love with and the cost of hiring a camping snug is so reasonable - here's the link, they have about 6 snugs at the minute but they seem to be pretty popular so not sure if they have any plans to build more. I honestly cannot recommend this campsite enough, I miss the view already!

And that was Cornwall, we then moved on to Dorset where the weather was ermm... not the best shall we say. But I'll sort out those pics later and pop them up in the week. I'm also editing a little video I made of our time there so will get that done pronto.
Now, back to the harsh reality of living in a city!
